Dr. Jan-Ulf Suchomel, LL.M.

Dr. Jan-Ulf Suchomel, LL.M., is admitted as a German Rechtsanwalt since 2005. Jan-Ulf has very broad experience in advising and representing clients in international disputes, especially in the field of corporate and commercial litigation, real estate litigation and infrastructure and construction disputes, insurance and reinsurance disputes and cross border litigation. He is advising and representing clients as a lawyer for over ten years and pleaded before various German courts, including courts of appeal. He also advises and represents clients in international arbitration proceedings under different rules, including ICC, SIAC, and DIS. He is a member of various law societies, including the German Institution of Arbitration.

Jan-Ulf studied law in Germany and Scotland. He has a diploma, a master title and a Ph.D. in the field of law. He regularly publishes articles on procedural issues in the renowned legal journal NJW. Prior to joining DLA Piper, he worked in litigation&arbitration department for another large international law firm.

Advising a leading European airline as claimant in a Singapore seated SIAC arbitration against a state-owned Indonesian airline relating to the non-fulfilment of service agreements.

Advising a German aerospace company in a Hamburg seated ICC arbitration against a German contract partner.

Representing a German healthcare company in a Stuttgart seated post M&A litigation against a Singaporean buyer.

Representing a leading German real estate investment group in a dispute over a joint-venture agreement with its former German partner.

Representing a trustee in about 300 (independent) German court proceedings against claims from individuals.
